Dr. Gangrene is a Nashville, Tennessee based horror host portrayed by actor Larry Underwood.
Following in the footsteps of such TN predecessors as Sir Cecil Creape and Dr. Lucifur, Larry began hosting movies as Dr. Gangrene in July, 1999. His program, Creature Feature, airs weekly on Nashville's CW58, WNAB, where it broadcasts into all of Middle Tennessee and part of Southern KY.
Dr. Gangrene has achieved national infamy, appearing in a variety of media outlets including Spike TV, USA Today, Rue Morgue Maagazine, Gear Magazine, Outre Magazine, Scary Monsters Magazine, The Tennessean newspaper, The Nashville Scene newspapper and many more.
Dr. Gangrene has also won numerous awards for the show including two Rondo Awards, a Nashville Scene Best of Nashville award, 2 Emmy nominations (for his series of environmental PSAs) and even a proclimation from the Governor of Tennessee.
Larry is also a professional artist and writer, He has written articles for Outre Magazine and Scary Monsters Magazine, and also worked in the comic book field self-publishing comic books nationally.
In addition he sings in a punk rock band called Spookhand. |
